The Dynamics of Competitive Mentality

Author : Oyvind Hennum
Life is not a competition. Not at all. Life itself is abundant and rich and overflowing. Take a look at a tree full of ripe fruits or a field full of grain. Just by looking at it, it makes you feel rich and abundant. And you feel that there is more than enough for everybody. But usually the abundant mentality stops there. Many of us are born and raised in a strong belief system that says that there is never enough of what we need or want. For many this is also more then a belief, it is a fact of life. There is not enough food, not enough money, not enough love, etc. You learn to think that if you don't make sure to take your part, someone else will take it.That is where you start to believe that life is a competition. You have to be better, stronger, faster, prettier, taller, and skinnier or whatever else you can be more than others. But fact is that there is more than enough of everything we need and want. There is more then enough food, so nobody would have to starve. There is enough medicine to save millions of lives, and there is enough money. If all the money in the world would be balanced more equally, everybody would be very rich!I know this may sound simple and easy, and that there are many reasons why I am wrong, but please put aside judgements and opinions for a moment.Start to think like you care for people instead of compete with them. Would it not be fair if all human beings had equal rights? That everyone would have the right to get food, shelter, medicine and basic education. I am not talking about equality here, like the communistic idea that everybody should be earning the same, regardless of what they are doing. I am talking about getting basic needs covered. If basic needs are covered, people can choose how to live their life, instead of having to fight to survive. With competitive mentalities like Survival of the fittest and Dog eat Dog, we justify that people are starving to death. We think that if someone wins, someone has to loose. It is now time to change this into a win-win mentality. That means we think, talk and act in a way that we want everybody to benefit. It is a way of thinking that includes all human beings. This way of thinking comes from the understanding that we are one.We are one human race on one planet. When I see myself as a part of this world I feel that the world is my responsibility. I understand that what I am thinking, saying and doing will affect the world. What I think, say and do to the world, I do to myself since I am a part of the world. That makes it more difficult not to care about what is happening, because I know that it directly affects me.With competitive mentality, I do not mean the drive you have to do your best. That you want to do your best is a fantastic asset and a driving force in your life. Wanting to do your best is a great motivation! If you do your best you are the best. That means everybody is unique and exceptional, just by being who they are.
Do your absolute best; strive to do what you love with the highest quality ever seen. But do it from a place inside where you want to come out with who you are, and not to overrun others. If you do what you love doing, you are competing in a natural way; you are on top because you are giving your very best. You hear athletes talking about "The Flow", that means the space where their performance comes easy and seem effortless. You can also reach that space with your work, and that is actually what life is meant to be. Not a struggle, not a competition, but a flow. This flow is an energy that comes out of you because you want to create.
So remember to make your competition a heart-full one and not a horror-full one. When you do your best, you are the best!Copyright (c) 2005 Oyvind HennumOyvind Hennum's web site: Financial Freedom Online - A free resource directory containing book reviews, articles, biographies, motivational quotes, affirmations, practical tips, budgeting and saving advice, success tests and free e-books.Read my review of the semi automatic article submission software Article Submitter Pro: Article Submitter Pro ReviewOr visit the Personal Finance Directory

Ready Fire Aim - Profit Secrets for The New Millennium

Author : Mike Makler
Don't you Mean Ready, Aim, Fire? The Problem with ready aim fire is people who are afraid of failure will never quite finish the aim part so they never have to fire. It's like the 2 Frogs on the Lily pad and 1 decides to jump - how many frogs are on the lily pad?Their are still 2 Frogs on the little Pad. A Frog decided to jump but didn't. Deciding to take an action is not enough. You actually need to follow through and take that action. Often people suffer from what is called analysis paralysis. They analyze and analyze but never take action. Did you ever wonder why the word Anal accounts for more then 1/2 the letters in Analyze.By using the Ready, Fire, Aim Method you eliminate that analysis paralysis. You take a positive action to achieve a specific outcome. If the outcome is not quite met, you make minor adjustments (aim) and then Fire again. The Keyword being small adjustments. You keep making small adjustments and fire, I was first Introduced to the Ready, Fire, Aim Method at a Robert Allen SeminarThink of it like you are trying to hit a bulls eye on a target with a gun. Your first objective is to hit the target. If you miss the target wide right, you just make a minor adjustment to the left and fire again. You keep adjusting left in tiny intervals until you hit the target. When you hit the target you are below and right of the bulls eye. You keep adjusting left until you are directly under the bulls eye and then you start adjusting upwards until you hit the Bulls eye. Ready, Fire, Aim.It is very simple to apply ready fire aim to the real world. You have a product you want to promote on the Internet (It could be an E-Book, Affiliate Program, Online MLM, Your latest MP3 File from your band)
It really doesn't matter what the product is. You create a really bad web page and start to send traffic to it. Now lets assume only 1 in 500 people buy your product from this terrible web page. You are still selling 1 in 500 people. You now create a second web page with only 1 or 2 minor changes, You now send traffic to this web page. If 1 in 490 now purchase this product you have just gotten closer to your bulls eye of 1 in 10. Just keep making small adjustments until you reach your goal. You will need to go through this phase of tweaking your online sales page to reach your goal it is just a matter of when. If it takes you 3 months to (aim) design a perfect page you will have made no sales in 3 months. Once you do launch this page you more then likely won't hit that 1 in 10 sales bulls eye and you will still have to adjust and fire. The Ready fire aim method forces you to take action much quicker. The Ready fire aim method allows you to see positive results sooner. The Ready fire aim method allows you to see positive results more often.
The Ready fire aim method will allow you to reach your dreams and goals faster.About The Author:

Little Things Mean Everything

Author : Jim Meisenheimer
A little over two years ago we moved into a new home in Lakewood Ranch Florida - near Sarasota. Bernadette and I were the second ones to move into the newest subdivision. Our neighbors across the street, Jack and Elizabeth, took honors at being the first to move in.Jack, who's retired, is quiet and very analytical. He came over the other day and announced that he was putting his house up for sale. He told us he interviewed four realtors. He shared a brief story about each one. What he liked and what he didn't like.He liked one in particular. His name was Phil. Jack said he was impressive in many ways. He came prepared. He looked and acted very professional and established rapport easily plus had other positive attributes. Jack said he emphasized personalized service, over and over again, and that made a good first impression. After interviewing the four realtors Jack and Elizabeth were leaning toward giving the listing to Phil. As they were discussing their options, Jack had one more question he wanted to ask Phil. So he called Phil on Friday afternoon at 4:30 and left a message with his assistant, who was a key member of Phil's team.Sixteen hours later, 8:30 AM on Saturday morning, Phil's assistant returned Jack's call, apologizing for taking this amount of time to return his call. That's the story - here's the bottom line. Phil and his team did not get the listing, which had a potential commission of $90,000. The reason Jack told us, was that 16 hours to return a call did not measure up to his definition of personalized service. Remember, Jack is very analytical and pays attention to the details.Little things mean everything and sometimes they can cost you a sale.Another example. Last Thursday, I was on American Airlines flight #1328 from Miami to Philadelphia. I was lucky and got an upgrade to First Class. My seat was 6F. I noticed the flight attendant as lunch orders were being taken. She seemed friendly and attentive as she noted the individual lunch requests. Her hair was pulled back in a bun and her smile seemed genuine and contagious, as she moved from passenger to passenger. My initial impression, from a distance, was First Class service in the First Class cabin. That however changed as she approached row 6. She asked my seat partner for his preference and then asked me for mine. She was chewing gum and I mean really chewing the gum. For me, the big distraction was I could see the little red wad of gum she was chewing on.It's not a big thing to be sure. Sorry, I can't help that it bugged me, it just did. It was a dang little thing that just changed my first impression.Little things mean everything, especially if you're in sales. Jack called Phil and told him why he didn't get the listing. How many times have you finished second to a competitor and convinced yourself the final decision was based purely on price? Seldom will you get a phone call explaining the real reasons why you weren't the chosen one.Maybe it was just a little thing.Little things mean everything and sometimes they can help you close a sale. So, I got to thinking about little things last weekend between sales training programs I was doing for corporate clients. I must have gotten into a zone because when I was done writing I had a list of 75 little things you can do to increase your sales. This morning I recorded a CD with 75 little things you can do to increase your sales. The package is called, "75 Little Things You Can Do To Grow Your Business And Boost Your Income."Most salespeople, and for the life of me I don't understand why, take a pass on anything that costs more than 10 bucks. I hope that's not how you think. This dynamite NEW Info Product will . . . go here for the rest of the story!

Spirituality & Success: Bridging the Gap

Author : Dave Ferruolo
There is a new breed of spiritual seekers these days; people looking for a better way to live. We, as a whole, are not content with the routines of daily life, and the quest for material gain is no longer completely satisfying our needs. Humanity is looking for fulfillment, and we have finally realized that peace, contentment and happiness come from inside of our selves, not from external sources. We have, after all these decades of probing, realized that what we have been seeking has been with us, inside us, all this time. We need only to turn our eyes inward to see the potential that resides within. Getting to know ourselves along with our connection and relationship with spirit, will unlock that potential, and catapult us on an amazing journey through life—a journey where worldly success and spiritual bliss are achieved simultaneously.Worldly success can be achieve and coexist in harmony with spirituality—it's the way things are supposed to be. Primarily our perception and thoughts of what "should be" are what hold us back. Success is more a state of mind and how one perceives themselves as successful. Your happiness is a choice that is made continually, throughout each moment of each day. Again, thought and perception mainly dictates whether you see yourself as happy or not. To truly achieve 'life success,' you have to make your life 'a success.' This is only feasible if you are happy. People from all walks of life are choosing to live a more spiritual life, to follow a path of peace and contentment while striving for success… And why not? Can we have both? YES!But what does it mean to live a spiritual life? Do we have to forsake our possessions and the desire for achievement and accomplishment? Being spiritual does not mean we have to give up our thirst for life, and being successful does not mean you have to be unhappy and 'sell your soul.' In fact, a centered, contemplative and motivated person is better poised for the greatest of life successes. By knowing who you are and what you are capable of, and realizing your connection to the earth, spirit and humanity, you can move past fears and begin to live the amazing adventure your life is meant to be!Spirituality is not about perfection, nobody will ever achieve that, but it is however, striving to live the best life you can and to be the best person you can be everyday in every way. It's about following your heart and not being afraid to peruse your dreams. It's about having compassion and forgiveness; being loving and kind and inspiring and motivating others to reach inside themselves and thrive. It's about living morally and justly—being virtuous and holding true to your heart's desires. Being spiritual is to adapt a 'Christ like' consciousness and without judgment, ego or fear, pursuing your journey on earth and cherishing the gift of life. And what about success… It is such an arbitrary term, meaning so many things to so many people. I like to ask, "What is your definition of success?" How do you define being successful? Are you on a certain path just to appease or please someone else? Do you act a certain way because you believe it is the 'socially acceptable' thing to do? You have to ask yourself what do you really want, what speaks truth to your soul? What, in your heart and mind, will make you a success. Many people have a certain goal or dream, and will not believe they are successful until they reach that point. But living successfully is a daily path, not a destination or something to be achieved or attained. We need to look at success on a smaller scale; the successes we achieve moment to moment are just as important as life-long success.Spirituality and success are both paths to travel and not definitive destinations. To achieve total life success, one must make living spiritual and being successful a lifestyle. Like water and clay, they should be molded together to create the masterpiece of your life. You cannot have one without the other. How can you be happy if you do not feel you are a success? Contrarily you're not a total success if you cannot find peace and contentment. For centuries we have followed these two paths separately, thinking we cannot have it both simultaneously. And for centuries, we have been frustrated and unfulfilled, bouncing back and forth from the paths of spirituality and success. What we have failed to realize, and are beginning to awaken to, is the idea that both paths are synonymous. We can have both; we can live fulfilling spiritual lives and be successful at the same time. After all, it is what we were born for. "But son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commandments in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity". Ebook Review: Selfscape - Success Through Balance by Sheryle Moon

Author : Robin Henry
Do you recall those experiences when 'something' just happens at the right time? You're looking for a car parking space in the busiest shopping centre in town and one magically appears; you're in a hurry and get all the green lights. Many people refer to it as synchronicity ... in tune with the Buddhist belief that, 'when the student is ready, the Master appears'.On such an occasion a colleague gave me a copy of Selfscape: Success through Balance. I had been unsettled for a long time, reflecting on my life and contemplating a change in direction … her timing was superb. This small, but insightful book written by Sheryle moon talks about topics we all know deep down, but never do anything about eg, planning our lives.Sheryle is an achiever; a mother, wife and managing director of a large corporation who won the prestigious "Telstra Women of the Year Award" several years ago. There's a good chance she knows about success and a balanced life.Sheryle details an holistic approach to planning across seven elements of our lives:

career
health
personal environment
recreation
relationships
self, and wealth
Instead of planning just our careers or perhaps for wealth, there is the realisation that we are complex and achieve synergy if we work with all elements. Now, within these elements are six integrated success strategies: personal capabilities and values, networking, vision, planning, balance, and commitment.Working across the elements and strategies, we produce a global plan for several decades (if you have that many left!) which distils into yearly and daily plans. Our plans are changeable, the critical truth being that planning delivers a better life than drifting aimlessly hoping all will be fine. Somehow, when we plan, and especially when we document our plans, the increased consciousness of what we want summons some universal principle that helps us achieve them as though it's impossible to do otherwise.Sheryle says, 'The planning strategy provides examples and templates to help you plan for each element and to put them together as a pathway for success throughout your life.'This ebook is a must for anyone wanting the best life has to offer. Instead of planning just our careers or perhaps for wealth, there is the realisation that we are complex beings who achieve synergy if we work with all elements. If you're seeking a successful life (and aren't we all?), Sheryle's balanced life planning process is a step forward. And it's never too late to get started and change your life for the better.Selfscape is only available from Desert Wave Enterprises and would make a perfect gift for the brother, father, mother, or friend who has everything, but a balanced life.Copyright 2005 Robin HenryRobin Henry is an educator, human resources specialist and Internet marketer. Success - The Sixty Thousand Pound Lesson

Author : Stuart Laing
Yesterday, as I was flicking through the Scotsman newspaper, four words made me sit up and rub my eyes in disbelief.

International news, culture, classifieds, sport, a-ha, business news: "Dana Petroleum, ordinary 813.5p"

I nearly choked on my cornflakes.

"So what?" you might be thinking "This is meant to be an article about success. If I'd wanted to read about share prices, I would have bought the Financial Times!"

Okay, it might appear to be totally unconnected with success, in the same way that nail extensions have nothing to do with bog snorkelling.

But you'd be wrong! Because I'm about to reveal the cruellest lesson of success.

Just five years earlier, I'd managed to get my hands on 7500 Dana shares at just 14.5p each. 14.5 pence! And now they were changing hands at more than eight quid a time!

Great! But I wasn't in a celebratory mood, because I'd sold my shares for virtually the same price three years earlier…just before the price of oil started to rocket.

Talk about missed chances!

You can do the maths yourself, but I reckon that I've missed out on a sixty grand bonanza.

I'd done everything correctly. I'd done all my homework, I knew it was a well run company with great potential, but I'd overlooked the vital ingredient of success – Perseverance.

I'd had the shares nearly two years, and the price hadn't moved so I sold them. And because I was a teensy-weensy bit impatient, I missed out on the success.

Now before you think I'm looking for sympathy, nothing could be further from the truth. Okay, I might have thought "what if…?" a few times, but that experience has taught me a lesson worth far more than sixty thousand pounds.

Success isn't always instant. Sometimes you have to keep going until you achieve the fruits of your labour.

Successful people, true champions, never give up. They have confidence in their ability and they keep going until they achieve the success that they desire.

Let's face it, when Tiger Woods drives a shot to within twelve foot of the pin, he doesn't put his golf ball back in his bag just because his approach shot wasn't good enough!

He doesn't cover 400 yards, just to give up twelve feet from success.

Of course not!

All his efforts are focused on continuing his round and playing the next shot as well as he can. That's the only way he can keep moving towards the success that he desires.

Perseverance is VITAL if you want to achieve anything worthwhile. It's your insurance policy in case success isn't instant.

Think about your life. How often have you put in all the work, but given up too early and missed out on the reward?

And how did that make you feel? (No answer necessary)

So from now on, if you want to become more successful, and avoid thoughts of "what if…?", here's what I suggest;

Number One: Do your homework

Whether it's golf, share dealing or even bog snorkelling for that matter, give it 100% effort. Learn everything you can about your subject and prepare diligently. Aim to be the best that you can. That will give you the confidence to take the next step.

Number Two: Trust your judgement

You've done all the ground work. You're moving towards success, but things aren't going as well as expected (and share prices are drifting sideways).

You've got a difficult decision to make. Do you trust your judgement and push on towards success, or do you doubt your abilities and throw in your hand?

This is where preparation is vital. The more groundwork you put in, the more you'll be able to trust your judgement and keep going.

If you don't have confidence in yourself or your abilities, the chances are you'll quit just before you become successful. And that's worse than not trying in the first place. After all, the well known saying is "quit while you're ahead" and not "quit before you're ahead".

Persistence is all powerful. You will become successful, provided you put in the effort, trust your instincts and keep going.

Best Wishes

Stuart

Read This Article if You Fear Risk

Author : Lance Winslow
Fear of Loss is a real human fear and it is a powerful innate characteristic indeed. As a matter of fact one of the closing techniques in salesmanship training is to use the "fear of loss trial close" on the buyer. It goes something like this; "so you like this new 50 series BMW don't you and the price is good too, you even said it your self; how about we do a credit check and you can driver her home tonight?"Buyer; "Oh, I don't think so, it is a beautiful car, but I have to think about it for a few days."Seller; "Well, this is the last one in stock here on the East Coast, she will not last by the end of the day tomorrow, in fact I am surprised she is still here today. Are you sure you want to risk it?"The fear of risk that something bad may happen if you do something or fail to do something has kept many a man from reaching his full potential. The saying; "No Risk; No Gain" is also appropriate here, as you cannot succeed unless you push the envelope and go beyond the common accepted way of doing things or general understood limits. Without risk, we would never have put anyone on the moon. Without risk there would be no drivers in NASCAR and if there were they would all drive around the track at 55 mph, not 200 + mph, you see?Risk and fear is something you must over come in your life. That is not to say you take fool hardy risks, it means you should live life and make all your endeavors count, do not settle for less or be led by fear or risk. Be strong, have strength of character and when you must do not be afraid to; Go for it. Think about this for awhile when you get a chance.Lance Winslow
