Everyone is asking the ultimate question, how do I get to have a successful website in this highly competitive age? The answer is simple...

In order to learn how to do it properly, we need to take a look at others who are already doing it, and winning the never ending game of promotion.

Never ending is a bit of an understatement if you consider the vast opportunity you have presented to you through promoting your business online. Millions and millions of people log on every day, but what you don't consider is that millions more have yet to log on for the very 1st time. If you've ever questioned the fact about whether or not there is an opportunity for yourself online, this small but powerful paragraph should end that doubt.

To make it big online, you have to think big. The internet is no different than real life... what you put forth, so shall you receive. There isn't any greater statement than that.

So what does it really take to make it big?

Create something bigger than yourself! Bottom line. Creating something bigger could be accomplished in a few different ways. I know there are some of you who are thinking, I don't have the money to create a massive website! Who ever said you're "something big" has to be owned by you?

That is the easiest way in. Let's also take a look at why you should have a website and promote it through your knowledge, we can only do this by taking a look at other peoples success. In this next small section, I am going to randomly pick out a couple of authors that consistently write articles and measure out their "visible" level of success.

Again, it begs the questions, wouldn't you like it if that was your name at the bottom of those articles with your website right beside it?

You DO NOT have to be a professional writer to start writing. In fact, when I started writing, my grammar was so bad, people would actually call me to guide me through my articles and point out the mistakes within them. The point is, people still called. Now thanks to my editors, my writing skills are improving a great deal.

Don't be shy. Just start somewhere and don't stop. Before you know it, you'll be writing 2-5 articles a week and won't be able to stop. That is when the true power of your promotion will start kicking in.

Just for people who want to know...

Let's take a look at my success as a writer. If you were to search for my name within quotations like so "Martin Lemieux", here are the results you would find. (In quotes to narrow down to an exact match)

There are over 65,600 web pages listed within Google with the name "Martin Lemieux".
There are over 32,300 pages listing in Yahoo
There are over 17,600 pages listed in MSN

That is over 115,500 "registered pages" online that have my name on them. Just remember as well, I haven't submitted an article in over 2 months due to illness. Only a fraction of those aren't me, they are someone else. Again, I ask the question... Wouldn't it be nice if that was your name and your website was right beside those tens of thousands of pages?

Just for curiosity, if you do a search for Martin Lemieux without the quotes within Google, you will get around 1,040,000 pages found. When I started out, those search results weren't even close to that, maybe even 10% of 1,040,000 because of "Claude Lemieux" & "Mario Lemieux" two famous hockey players.

Does something like this happen over night? Absolutely not. In the last 4 years, I've been able to write around 70-80 articles in total! That's it. There are writers out there that have personally written over 1000 articles in a matter of years.

What else can you do to increase your popularity? Accept articles from other authors of course! Why not share your success with others. Doing so will only increase your credibility online and increase your visitors a great deal. Not only will authors talk about you, your website will increase every time you list another authors article.

Why do you think that many of the article directories world wide get the most traffic on average beyond the Gorillas like Google, Yahoo, Ebay, etc? They all have one thing in common, they're creating a community of people writing their hearts out and exposing their business further online.

In Conclusion:

If you've ever doubted why people write articles, think again. The internet favors the bold, the ones who are not afraid to speak their mind and put their thoughts in digital format get rewarded. More and more authors who have written actual books are now writing for the internet to get more sales for their books. It's a proven fact that unique content is king and so are your thoughts.

Role Behavior in Highly-Effective Teams

Does the behavior that makes individuals successful in their jobs provide the same degree of success in a team? The answer is frequently and sometimes surprisingly, no. On the other hand, successful people often adapt their behavior to different situations.It makes sense that a person who performs well in their job exhibits behaviors in that job that would make them successful. Because they're successful, their behavioral style effectively gets reinforced over time. If it becomes their natural behavioral style, they may carry over certain behaviors into their team work which can be a source of conflict for other team members.Let's look at an example of this. In this example, Mark has responsibility for the production line in a division of a major corporation. Through coaching, a role behavior instrument, a DISC profile, and a comparison tool, Mark was able to see there was a pretty good fit between the ideal role behavior regardless of the person in the role and his behavior in this role.On the job, Mark's very high Dominance dimension of behavior is useful to his role as manager of the production line. In essence, ballet shoes should feel like a second skin.

Ballet is all about grace, poise, and technique. To attain this, a ballet dancer must have excellent fitting ballet shoes. For the best fitting ballet shoes, necessary steps must be taken. There are also some tips and tricks that can help a ballet dancer achieve this as well.

This also means there should be no extra space at any part of your ballet shoes. Also, there should be absolutely no toe room. If there is toe room you will not be able to properly "pointe" your foot. You also will not be able to feel the floor beneath you. Hence you cannot perform any dance techniques properly.

Properly fitted ballet shoes are the most important thing for a ballet dancer. With all of these things in mind, you should be able to properly fit your ballet shoes. This way you are sure to be on your way to a beautiful dance performance.

Music and video production have made it to the grass roots level thanks to the affordability and widespread use of powerful computers.Inexpensive digital video cameras are widely available, and older analog video cameras can be connected to a computer through a video card to download movies to the computer for editing, storage, and distribution to friends and relatives over the internet.It has become fairly easy to edit your own videos, and there are many software packages available aimed at the amateur. The Windows operating system has its own video editing package called Windows Movie Maker that allows you to produce professional-looking videos.As you explore this exciting new world, you will inevitably come up with the need to edit the audio portion of your video file. The sound quality of most video cameras is not great, so you may want to process the sound or replace it all together with music or voice-overs.It is very easy to separate the audio from the video. Free software packages that do this task include Windows Media Encoder from Microsoft (if you are working with WMV video files) and VirtualDub (if you are working with AVI files). Either of these programs (and many others) allow you to save the audio portion of video file quickly and easily.
Once you have your audio file, you can process it for noise reduction, bring up the volume, add music or do any digital magic to it that you desire.With many video editing packages, however, it isn't necessary to split the audio to a separate file. Nursing Scholarships for Men

O.K. men, it's your turn. Take the nursing field and run with it. First of all congratulations and salutations to all men entering the nursing field. It is about time, thank you. With that said, how about finding some scholarships to help you achieve your goals. Yes, there are scholarships out there just for you gentlemen. Take advantage of them. Nursing school is a whole other ball field now that men have entered into it full swing. As most of you know, it is not a pretty sight.Many of the nursing instructors have been holding their own as women for quite sometime. I really don't think they had planned to see so many men in the field. So What! Right? Wrong. I realize that it is an uphill battle sometimes. The mind and mentality of a nursing student with respect to their instructor is not much different than the humility that the student must show his Samurai Sensi, as he backs up to leave the room never turning his back out of respect for his teacher. Yeah, I know, corny, but hey you have to know how to roll with the punches. Sometimes that doesn't even work. However men, hang in there. You will make it, and be good nurses, no, great nurses you will be.Up to this point, I hope that I have not shaken, not stirred those men who are contemplating going into the nursing field. From my own personal experience as a second year nurse with only fifteen weeks left to go, all I can say is that the male nursing students are intelligent, kind, patient and all around very pleasant to be with. Albeit there are not many men in our clinical but those who are do fantastic. So, with that let's get down to business and get those scholarships for nursing school. Where to go? Structural engineers use engineering formulas relating to material properties and physics to design structures which will withstand all the forces the structures may be subject to. Examples of such forces are gravity, wind shear, stresses due to aging of materials and seismic vibration.Structural drawings are part of the language the same structural engineers use to communicate with contractors, fabricators and regulatory bodies. These drawings describe the details of an objects supporting members, such as beams and columns, which are designed by the structural engineer.Structural drawings are crucial in the construction of buildings, tunnels, ships, aircraft, oil drilling platforms, bridges, retaining walls, mines, infrastructure projects, automobiles and any other object subject to significant forces. Examples of elements described in structural drawings are beams, columns, trusses, roof framing, braces, steel connections, concrete footings, pile foundations, metal decking, joists, stairs and handrails.Structural drawings are executed by structural draftsmen. With advances in network communication, paperless transmission of drawings from one node in a network to another became possible. Of all the demands imposed by twenty first century leadership, perhaps the toughest is the ability to not only manage change but to instigate it, control it and to be it's master. Dealing with the ever increasing rate of change may be the leader's most potentially overwhelming task. Today's Change Agent is an agressive forward thinker.

The Industrial Age was supplanted by the Information Age and the Electronic Information Age has made even that seem like kindergarten stuff. The instant availability of information on virtually any subject has eroded our ability to pause, analyze and reason alternatives. In the manufacturing world where only a few years ago, "better late than never" was the watchword, today the word is "better never than late." If your new product isn't first to market - forget it - the chances of recouping R&D costs are just about nil.
We demand instant everything
Even beyond new product development, our customers expect instant response to every request. They demand that we be on our toes, ready and able to provide order status information NOW! They also expect us to deal with changes in specifications, quantity and scheduling without a hitch - and with no surcharge.

If you believe you can hold back the snowball of progress, you are doomed to be swallowed up in something over which you can never hope to have any control.
All change is not good - all change is not inevitable
Please don't take these remarks to indicate that all change is good, or even that all change is inevitable. The prayer of St. Francis (long the watchword of AA) asks for; the courage to change the things I can, the serenity to accept those things I can not change and (most difficult of all) the wisdom to know the difference. The sky will remain blue, water will remain wet and the sun will rise in the east. The air we breathe however, will not remain clean, with a sufficiency of oxygen, our water will not continue to give life unless we change the way we treat our environment but most of us will never have the opportunity to make a major impact. We must change what we can and encourage others to do the same.
Of all the traits of leadership the ability to produce lasting and meaningful change is so far out in first place that what ever is second doesn't really matter!
Make change your slave, not your master
How do we take control of this "crisis of modernity" and make change our slave rather than our master?
Leo Tolstoy said, "Everyone wants to change the world but no one wants to change themselves." The truth is that all change must begin with me. If I can not, will not, do not change - and demonstrate that change to all the world, I can not reasonably expect others to follow my advice to change. If the two are at odds people will follow my example while ignoring my words, no mater how eloquently they be phrased.. Only when thought, word and deed are closely aligned can I truly hope to be followed. Only then can I hope to be a leader.

One of the greatest obstacles to progress can often be our awareness of past failures. If we tried something a couple of years ago and fell flat on our faces (and especially if we were ridiculed or derided as a result) we tend to be reluctant to rock the boat again. When we believe that history will repeat itself, we become paralyzed by fear.
Mentoring managers through a process that I sometimes refer to as "directed introspection" in order to expose attitudes and prejudices can often produce startling results. Knowing where we are starting from does not in and of itself guarantee that we will arrive at our desired destination (on time and within budget) but not knowing weights the odds heavily against us. I believe that if we want to go somewhere we must first know who we are and where we are. When we know the starting point, personally and professionally, in regard to ourselves, our people and our company we are more likely to have a clear picture of where we want to go, how to get there and what must change en route.
I believe that as many people as possible in an organization should be involved in the process of creating statements of Vision, Mission, Purpose, Values, and Goals. When people have had a hand in the creation, buy in to do what ever is necessary to get results is almost automatic. When these guiding principles are understood by everyone from the "Ivory Tower" all the way to the Shop Floor everyone knows where we are going, why we are going there and what we have to do to get there. They also know the down side of not going there and of not participating in the process. Is not the search for heaven made more intense by the awareness of hell? In addition, when everyone understands his or her WIIFM, (What's In It For Me) getting results is like picking low hanging fruit.
Vision must be followed by a plan
Strategic planning can be an arduous (but exhilarating) process. Often a three day retreat with an outside facilitator is the only way to get the concentrated focus, the brainstorming, necessary to initiate the process. We must examine all aspects of the organization, physical and human resources, management skills and needs, culture, attitudes, market place, industry, supplier relations, customer relations, government regulations, labour agreements, etc., etc. We have to remember that Rome was not built in a day. If we are looking for instant gratification we will surely be disappointed.
When we have suspended our doubts and fears, set aside our memories of past failure, forgotten our prejudices, examined our strengths and planned to enhance them, seen in our minds eye the potential within ourselves and our organization, created a vision in which we believe, we will become advocates for our organization and evangelists for the realization of that vision.
Vision is a powerful driving force
Once we are over the initial hurdle we will be driven by the power of our vision for the future. A clearly articulated vision coupled to a specific plan of action for its attainment (including target dates for each step), and a firm commitment to that action, is an unstoppable combination. YES, it will require perseverance, dedication and hard work; and YES, it will be extremely satisfying!
Effecting organizational and personal change is never a cake walk but learning the basics of how to set goals and create plans with specific, time sensitive action steps for their achievement can be learned in only a few hours. When coupled to powerful statements of Vision, Mission, Purpose, and Values, and a well-organized coaching, mentoring and measurement process, the pain is minimal while the results are huge!

Peak Plays

Peak plays are very short term in nature and you have to be prepared to get in and get out very quickly. There are several reasons for Peak Plays, some of which are: rumors, earnings forecasts or reports, mergers, upgrades, merger speculation, stock splits and sometimes they occur for no noticable reason at all.There are basically two ways to play a peak: a pullback and the peak itself.Peak PlaysIf there is still alot of pressure built up and you are fast, you can partake of the run up. If you feel the peak will hold for a quick play, get in at the open. If you are more of a risk taker, you can place your order before the open or if you are more conservative, then wait out the first 30 minutes of trading to verify the move. Often a stock that has a peak that continues for a second day will experience a small pullback at the open and then will reverse and continue up. One stategy is to place a limit order before the open at the closing ask price from the previous day.Since this is the second day of the peak, you want to get in and out on the same day (maybe, even within an hour). More than likely the stock will top and pullback very soon. Always know your exit before you buy (Wade Cook) and once your buy order is filled, immediately place a limit order to sell ( this may be for a little as 1/4 to 1/8 of a point ). The biggest play on a peak occurs with the pullback, so if you are going to ride the peak, you have to do it quickly, this is not the time to get greedy! And remember if you cannot afford the stock, look to see if it has call options, probably at least two months out.The Pullback PlayThis is an easier play and the one that is used most often because the time frame is longer. A general rule for the biggest peaks is: the quicker and bigger the run up, the quicker and bigger the pullback.On some peaks it will take a session or two before the pullback starts. The big question here is "when will the peak hit its top or will it even top out"? Sometimes the peak is just a quick move for a stock that turns into a rocket. Generally, if we are going to see a pullback, it will happen slower than the run up did. One way to help determine if the stock is reaching a top is to observe the volume. Look for a return to more normal trading volume with little or no upward price movement. And please don't get greedy, you are not always going to hit the very top of the peak, if you try to do so, you risk not getting in on a quick pullback, you must be in position to participate.Sometimes the pullback will occur the following morning of the peak, but more often we see it continue on for part of the following morning. If you can watch the stock, wait until it hits a resistance point and then open a short position (don't forget put options). What if you cannot watch the stock? Simple, enter a limit order for your short position to be hit a little below where it's currently trading. This way you avoid opening a position until the stock has definitely moved into the pullback.You should not expect the pullback to give back more than half of the peak because this does not happen often, especially if the stock has been trending upward over a longer period. To ensure a solid return in a shorter time frame, don't look for more than a 25% pullback from the original peak. By following this guideline you can move on to compound your money in another play.What if you feel there is a larger, more gradual pullback coming? Then watch the openings very closely, if you see the stock opening above the previous days close, you should give serious consideration to buying to cover.Here are a couple of clues to give you more of an advantage. Look at the chart on the evening of the peak. Look to see if the stock hit a price significantly higher than the closing price, if it did, this may be an early sign of a pullback. The second thing you should look at is a one year chart of your stock. Try to determine if it has been stuck in a range over the last month or two, if it has, look to see how many other times over the last year it had been in this support/resistance level. If it has visited this area several times before and also exhibits the first sign mentioned at the beginning of this paragraph, you have a great indication of a pullback coming!Get in and get out quickly!And keep in mind that on a pure peak play you are going to have a shorter window of opportunity (usually a one day play), the opening of the following morning is very critical and you cannot get greedy.For the pullback play you are looking at a time frame of from two days to a month, keep an eye open for a return to more normal volume and price plateauing (these are topping signs) and don't look for more than a 50% pullback from the original peak (be happy with 25% or less).http://lb.bcentral.com/ex/manage/subscriberprefs?customerid=12826

After you have built your website the next natural step is to start promoting it. You can start with submitting your site to the various search engines and directories.For those of you who either have a site now or are planning to have one in the future, you will of course want your site to be listed in the search engine index and directories.You will thus need to decide if you want to submit your site to each individual search engine and directory by hand, pay a submission service to do it for you, buy site submission software, or use one of the free submission services on the internet.Submitting to each individual search engine and directory by hand is relatively easy to do and yet can be time consuming and a bit tedious. I personally do not really recommend this software since it is somewhat expensive and time consuming for a novice to learn. If you have an older computer this software will chew up plenty of resources while it is running and slow down your computer considerably. On the positive side it does submit to a sizeable number of sites. This can boost your page rank or popularity. That leaves us with the freebie submission services that exist around the net. There are at least several of them available that are good. The way it works is you fill out 1 form and the service submits that site data to all the search engines and directories on it's list. I do not recommend using them if your whole business is built around your site, but for many sites they are adequate. The problem is that some search engines block these automated submissions automatically(they want you to visit their site in person so you can view ads), and they are ineffective for most directories which require that you navigate to the pertinent category first. Also, each engine allows a differing amount of keywords and requires different types of information. Some of the more popular services include submitexpress.com, which will submit your site to 40 search engines for free, addme.com which will submit your site to Google, Subjex, Alexa, Scrub The Web, FAST Search AllTheWeb, LookSeek, ExactSeek, Jayde, and a few others for free, addpro.com submits to 20+ top search engines using an automatic service that is easy to use, and quickregister.net which will submit your site to the major engines and directories if you put a small text link on your site. Holy! Holy! Holy! (...holy?)

Holy Cow! Can we just go back to basics now?

What does holy mean?

To be holy means to be perfect or nearly perfect, right? It
means piety, righteousness, uprightness. It means not sinning.

Actually, that is not accurate.

To be holy means to be separate!

Separate from what?

Let's consider a soldier and a boxer for a moment. They are
trained to be good at their field by adhering to a rigorous set
of discipline. A soldier doesn't behave like an ordinary
citizen. His hair is kept short that when battle comes, he will
not bother combing his hair before taking up his gun. In the
same light, a boxer is physically trained for fights and doesn't
smoke cigarettes or take intoxicating drinks.

Why? In his pursuit of excellence, he needs to separate from the
pack.

Achievers are disciplined people. It makes more sense now why
there are a lot more losers than winners, eh?

Let's take another example. Consider your drinking glass, will
you use it to hold thinner for cleaning your paint brush? Of
course not! You want it to be absolutely clean. Why? You don't
want contamination.

To be holy means to be separate from the common group of people
that you may be used effectively of God.

Think again, would you like to live your life like everybody
else barely making any difference at all?

In objection a friend of mine said, "If you'll be so holy all of
the time, then, you will be a loner -- no one will be hanging
out with you. You can't go out with the guys at the local
Saturday Night hangout. You'll be real lonely, man?"

Please allow me to be serious on this for a moment.

The bible says that God will give you the desires of your heart.
Don't pick the common interpretation here. What this means is
that God will cleanse your heart of its sinful desires, put new
desires, and will make you to desire to do His will.

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he shall give you the desires
of your heart. (Psalm 37:4 - ESV)

What this means is that those who become Christians become new
persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is
gone. A new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 6:7 - NLT)

Man, I really want you to take a fresh look on these things and
don't let your preconceived philosophy go in the way again.

The Medium and the Message

A debate is raging in e-publishing circles: should content be encrypted and protected (the Barnes and Noble or Digital goods model) - or should it be distributed freely and thus serve as a form of viral marketing (Seth Godin's "ideavirus")? Publishers fear that freely distributed and cost-free "cracked" e-books will cannibalize print books to oblivion. The more paranoid point at the music industry. It failed to co-opt the emerging peer-to-peer platforms (Napster) and to offer a viable digital assets management system with an equitable sharing of royalties. The results? A protracted legal battle and piracy run amok. "Publishers" - goes this creed - "are positioned to incorporate encryption and protection measures at the very inception of the digital publishing industry. They ought to learn the lesson." But this view ignores a vital difference between sound and text. In music, what matter are the song or the musical piece. The medium (or carrier, or packing) is marginal and interchangeable. A CD, an audio cassette, or an MP3 player are all fine, as far as the consumer is concerned. The listener bases his or her purchasing decisions on sound quality and the faithfulness of reproduction of the listening experience (for instance, in a concert hall). This is a very narrow, rational, measurable and quantifiable criterion. Not so with text. Content is only one element of many of equal footing underlying the decision to purchase a specific text-"carrier" (medium). Various media encapsulating IDENTICAL text will still fare differently. Hence the failure of CD-ROMs and e-learning. People tend to consume content in other formats or media, even if it is fully available to them or even owned by them in one specific medium. People prefer to pay to listen to live lectures rather than read freely available online transcripts. Libraries buy print journals even when they have subscribed to the full text online versions of the very same publications. And consumers overwhelmingly prefer to purchase books in print rather than their e-versions. This is partly a question of the slow demise of old habits. E-books have yet to develop the user-friendliness, platform-independence, portability, browsability and many other attributes of this ingenious medium, the Gutenberg tome. But it also has to do with marketing psychology. Where text (or text equivalents, such as speech) is concerned, the medium is at least as important as the message. And this will hold true even when e-books catch up with their print brethren technologically. There is no doubting that finally e-books will surpass print books as a medium and offer numerous options: hyperlinks within the e-book and without it - to web content, reference works, etc., embedded instant shopping and ordering links, divergent, user-interactive, decision driven plotlines, interaction with other e-books (using Bluetooth or another wireless standard), collaborative authoring, gaming and community activities, automatically or periodically updated content, ,multimedia capabilities, database, Favourites and History Maintenance (records of reading habits, shopping habits, interaction with other readers, plot related decisions and much more), automatic and embedded audio conversion and translation capabilities, full wireless piconetworking and scatternetworking capabilities and more. The same textual content will be available in the future in various media. Ostensibly, consumers should gravitate to the feature-rich and much cheaper e-book. But they won't - because the medium is as important as the text message. It is not enough to own the same content, or to gain access to the same message. Ownership of the right medium does count. Print books offer connectivity within an historical context (tradition). E-books are cold and impersonal, alienated and detached. The printed word offers permanence. Digital text is ephemeral (as anyone whose writings perished in the recent dot.com bloodbath or Deja takeover by Google can attest). Printed volumes are a whole sensorium, a sensual experience - olfactory and tactile and visual. E-books are one dimensional in comparison. These are differences that cannot be overcome, not even with the advent of digital "ink" on digital "paper". They will keep the print book alive and publishers' revenues flowing. People buy printed matter not merely because of its content. If this were true e-books will have won the day. Print books are a packaged experience, the substance of life. People buy the medium as often and as much as they buy the message it encapsulates. It is impossible to compete with this mistique. Safe in this knowledge, publishers should let go and impose on e-books "encryption" and "protection" levels as rigorous as they do on the their print books. The latter are here to stay alongside the former. With the proper pricing and a modicum of trust, e-books may even end up promoting the old and trusted print versions. About the Author
